North American River Runners (NARR) specializes in white water rafting on the Gauley River in West Virginia. Within the 26-mile stretch of the Gauley River National Recreation Area, the river is divided into two major sections. The Upper Gauley River features several demanding Class V rapids including Insignificant, Pillow Rock, Lost Paddle, Iron Ring and Sweet's Falls. This legendary run is known the world over and is rated in the Top 10 White Water Rafting Destinations in the World. The Lower Gauley River, though not as steep as the Upper, has many technically demanding rapids in the Class III - Class IV category. This section of the Gauley features some of the most beautiful scenery in West Virginia and is a great warm up for the Upper. NARR's popular Reverse Gauley Overnight allows you to gain experience on the Lower section and then tackle the Upper Gauley the next day. Each September and October, Summersville Dam schedules releases to unleash this classic whitewater run. For 23 days of high adventure and fun, thousands flock to the area to challenge it's steep drops, massive holes, and colossal waves. Due to the Gauley's popularity and short season, spaces fill up quickly. Reserve your trip today! |
